Treatment of Acne Scars
Acne, especially if moderate or severe, can leave marks on the skin. Some will improve or disappear with time, but depressed or keloid scars tend to stay. It is important to have established satisfactory control of acne before starting treatment for acne scars.

How shall I treat my acne scar?

The treatment of acne scaring depends on which type of acne scar you have. Listed here are some common characteristics of those acne scars, and their related treatment.

Treatment for brown or red marks

Treatment for raised or keloid acne scars

Treatment for depressed acne scars

•  Intense Pulsed Light Treatment
   decreases pigmentation and
   redness and also gently improves
   skin texture.

•  Pulsed Dye Laser effectively
   improves red acne marks,
   especially if these are new.

•  Injections of corticosteroids into the
   scars.

•  Pulsed Dye Laser.

•  Surgical scar revision can be useful
for certain types of depressed scars.

•  Injection of filler material into scars,    such as using Restylane.

•  Ablative skin resurfacing: this is not
so popular due to the long recovery
   time.

•  FRAXEL Laser Treatment is at
   present considered the most effective
   non-invasive treatment for depressed
acne scars. It removes old, scarred
tissue and stimulates growth of new,
   healthy skin.

•  Laser Facial is a no down-time
   treatment that can stimulate the
   production of collagen inside the
   skin, improving acne scars.
