Vascular Laser Treatment
Vascular lasers emit wavelengths that are preferentially absorbed by haemoglobin. Laser energy will cause the problematic blood vessels to shut down, clot-up or burst causing a minimal effect on normal skin, thus allowing the safe and effective treatment of red blemishes.
The vascular lasers used at SkinCentral are the Cynosure's Pulse Dye Laser (585nm) and the Laserscope Gemini laser (532nm KTP). They allow for both focused, spot-on treatment of individual blemishes and treatment of the whole face, for those who are prone to facial redness. The Palomar's Starlux intense pulsed light (IPL) machine is a non-laser that reduces redness in a gentler fashion.
The availability of multiple vascular lasers offers the benefit of combination treatment. Different vascular lasers offer varying treatment advantages. By combining the lasers in a session, efficacy is increased while the risk of side effects can be minimized as this would negate the need to use high energies, as in the case of a single laser treatment.
