The procedure

The MiraDry treatment is performed by a dermatologist at our centre. The treatment area will be shaved and numbed with local anaesthetics prior to the procedure, which takes about an hour. After the procedure, you can then return to your normal activities, although we recommend avoiding any vigorous activity with your arms for several days.

Efficacy:

You will typically see a reduction in underarm sweat and body odour immediately after one treatment; a secondtreatment is usually advisable which is performed three months afterwardsto maximize the results. In controlled clinical trials between 70% and 90% of subjects saw a significant reduction in their underarm sweat, and virtually all the subjects achieved some reduction. Patients continued to show a dramatic reduction of sweat when tracked 24 months after the procedure.

Risks and discomforts:

Temporary swelling, bruising, soreness and numbness in the treated and surrounding areas for a few days are common. Permanent partial hair loss in the treated area may occur. Other possible side effects that are much less common include prolonged swelling, tenderness or numbness; hyperpigmentation, tight bands, burns, abscesses, and reduced muscle strength.
