Laser PhotoRejuvenation (Skincentral™ Laser Facial)
This is a whole-face treatment in which the dermatologist selects a combination of light-based devices (lasers and intense pulsed light) - according to the your needs and your current skin status - to improve both the complexion (color) and the texture of the skin at the same time. The complexion will be more even and the texture more supple and smooth.
This is a gentle, non-ablative laser procedure that is good for:
- Sun-damaged skin
- Skin prone to redness / rosacea
- Skin with uneven pigmentation (e.g. freckles / sun-spots)
- The face, neck, chest, arms and hands
Example of devices used:
- Freckles, sun-spots or other pigmentation marks: QS Alexandrite laser, KTP laser, IPL
- Redness, broken veins, flushing, sensitivity of the skin, rosacea: KTP laser, Pulsed Dye laser, IPL
- Enhanced collagen synthesis: IPL, Nd:YAG laser
The procedure:
The treatment session takes about 20-30 minutes. Your eyes will be protected with special eye pads or goggles. When the lasers are applied, they will feel like rubber snaps or mild stings. A numbing cream can be applied at the clinic one hour before the treatment to reduce any discomfort, however many clients find it unnecessary.
After the session:
Redness and swelling (ranging from imperceptible in most cases, to how one looks after vigorous exercise) may occur for a few hours up to a few days. If you have freckles and sunspots, these will darken or form dark thin scabs, which will fall off within a week. You should refrain from picking at scabs that form after the treatment, instead letting them fall off when they are ready.
You can wash and care for you skin as per usual, while taking care to avoid any harsh or exfoliating skincare products that may irritate the skin, such as retinols, acids or Vitamin C, for a week. The treated area should be protected from the sun by using a good sunscreen for at least two weeks after the treatment.
Cautions:
- On the day of your appointment, the treatment area should not have an active tan or have had any recent sun exposure, as it may substantially increase the risk of adverse reactions (i.e. burns).
- The treated area should also be protected from the sun by using a good sunscreen for at least two weeks after the treatment.
- You should refrain from picking at scabs that form after the laser treatment, and let them fall off when they are ready, otherwise dark marks can result which will take a few months to fade.
Treatment plan:
According to your problem and treatment goal, your dermatologist will individualize a suitable treatment plan. Typically, a treatment session will be carried out once a month for four months, and then every 3-6 months for further improvement / maintenance. For individuals with rosacea, more frequent maintenance sessions may be required.
