Sunscreen or Moisturizer First?
Most of us know the sun's damaging rays are the main culprits when it comes to fine lines and wrinkles - and daily use of sunscreen is a must if you want to keep your skin looking young and healthy. But many people do not realize how and when you apply a product can greatly impact its efficacy - so, are you making the most of your sunscreen?
Obviously, skin is only protected for as long as your sunscreen stays in place, and applying it properly, so it stays on as long as possible, is essential. If you use a serum and/or moisturizer and make-up, our experts recommend you apply each as follows:
- Serum - simply apply serum.
- Moisturizer and Eye Cream - apply to skin but keep in mind that in a humid city like Hong Kong, many sunscreens provide more than enough moisture to the skin, eliminating the need for a separate moisturizer
- Sunscreen - after applying, wait for a couple of minutes to allow the sunscreen to settle into the skin
- Foundation and Powder - to keep sunscreen in place, try to rub as little as possible when applying foundation
